2015 brought us tons of great music thanks to likes of Drake, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, etc.
However, with the new year upon us, we think it’s time for you to put the mainstream artists aside for a quick minute and give some other talent a listen or two. Examining the scene, we have a few artists who we think will breakthrough this year, making them worthy of landing on your 2016 playlist.

If you’ve been following Kehlani for quite some time, then you’ve probably already seen Samaria as well. The Northern California beauty is part of Kehlani’s Tsunami Mob label, and she’s quickly rising up to these music charts with her hits like “Something Better,” and “Lifetime.” Peep her SoundCloud, and if you vibe with her, then add her to your playlist.
19-year-old, Toronto native, Alessia Cara can be based on the purity of her lyrics and the fact that she’s not afraid to stray from the typical content in most lyrics (sex, drugs and money) and brings something different to the table. Check out her debut album “Know It All.”
Maurice Moore established his solo career as a singer, songwriter, and producer in 2013. Since then, the Toronto rising star has turnt up the heat. Recently dropping his track “The Loudest Silence” Maurice is ready to continue his streak of success. Peep the 19-year-old music here.
Australian singer, songwriter and producer, William Singe is definitely rising to the top. The 23-year-old is most notable for his online videos that have amassed hundreds of millions via YouTube and Facebook. Take a listen to his latest music on SoundCloud.
The Toronto native has taken the music world by storm. Not only is he vocally talented with a very smooth sound, but Tory Lanez has incorporated some of the 90s vibe into his own. The “Say It” vocalist is definitely an artist you don’t want to sleep on in 2016.
Quickly rising up to the charts with their hit single “IN2” featuring Kehlani, the London RnBass group WSTRN just got signed with Atlantic Records. Danish lead singer Lukas Graham has the potential to become one of the biggest in 2016. With his latest record “7 Years” taking a toll, the singer’s song contemplates the stages of growing up and the ever-changing perspectives of a man moving through life. Take a look at their video here.
