Lauryn Hill has joined the conversation about this country’s climate and existing racial tension in the most poetic way – through her music.

On Saturday, (Oct. 15), the legendary R&B crooner debuted the politically charged “I Find It Hard To Say (Rebel)” during Jay Z’s star-studded TIDAL X charity concert. The track was originally featured on her second studio album, MTV Unplugged No. 2.0, and was inspired by the tragic death of Amadou Diallo, a West African immigrant who was shot and killed by police in 1999.

Following the show, Hill took to her Twitter to share the revamped song along with these words: “old tune, new version, same context, even more relevant now.”
