Retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has become a reserve police officer in South Florida.

Doral Police Chief Donald De Lucca swore the retired basketball player in during a ceremony earlier in the week.

The news comes after O’Neal told New York Times that he was considering a formal police career back in 2011.

O’Neal will commute to work from his homes in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, and will also be doing community work, serving as a role model for children.

It’s been a long time coming for the once basketball player, and now poilice officer. Congrats Shaq!
